Post Brewery for YellowScene Magazine

Go to Post Brewing in Lafayette, Colorado!  Yummm-mmmmmyyyy!  The fried chicken, which happens to be gluten-free, for all you GFers, is DEEEELICIOUS!  And the mac and cheese, unique and spicy.  I enjoyed shooting there recently for YellowScene Magazine, mainly because they sent me home with all the food I photographed! :)

Rapid City Statues for FamilyFun Magazine

A very long time ago (last summer) I drove to Rapid City,  South Dakota, to do a shoot for FamilyFun Magazine.  It finally ran in the May 2014 issue, and so is out on news stands now, or online: http://www.parents.com/fun/vacation/ideas/worth-the-trip/#page=2

Chantal Pierrat of Emerging Women Conference on MailChimp

rstumpf_5047e.jpg

You know MailChimp?! The place you send your newsletters through? Well, they contacted me to do a shoot of an amazing woman, Chantal Pierrat, here in Boulder who started the Emerging Women Conference, a conference that focuses on the strong voices of women in business.  After just one year, the event grew so popular that is has now found a new home in New York City.  Go Chantal!

I photographed Chantal in her home in Boulder, Colorado. Between important business phone calls, a change of clothes, the nanny and her two kids running around, we found some quiet moments to capture this emerging woman doing what she does - being awesome.

Doug Masiuk for Narratively

I was up in Vail and Breckenridge recently shooting for Epic Life Magazine, and I got contacted by the photo editor of Narratively, an online platform devoted to untold human stories, to do a shoot that week in Frisco (right next to Breckenridge).  The story was to be of a man, Doug Masiuk, who turned his life around from alcoholism and unmanaged diabetes to running across the United States and educating children about the disease.  I was excited to do the shoot, if I was able to arrange to do it while I was up in the mountains (note: I was set to leave that day).  Sure enough, I got in touch with Doug literally a minute later, and was running around the trails of Frisco and in coffee shops later that day with him!  SO grateful to him for making it work, and for sharing his story – a true inspiration.  Read more about Doug's story, and see why!

Photo Field Trip

Earlier this week I unpacked a suitcase saturated with the smell of campfire, and bits and pieces of dried mud fell onto the floor;  leftover signs of summer camp, carried with me a thousand-plus miles from El Capitan Canyon in southern California where I attended a 4-day, 3-night, photo-nerd sleepover camp called Photo Field Trip last weekend.

To sum up my experience in words presents a great challenge.  The setting was idyllic – canvas-walled tents, cozy cabins, yurts, camouflage tree bark, meandering dirt paths – "glamping," they call it.  I can't truly express the inspiration I got from classes with amazing and long-admired photographers such as Kendrick Brinson and David Walter Banks, Leela Cyd, Anna Naphtali, Michael O'Neal and Paul Octavious, all who shared their unique take on capturing a still image.  Not to mention the 300+ incredibly creative folk that surrounded me, including one of my photography soul sisters, Greta Rybus.  We shared, we laughed, we talked, we learned, we clicked, we soaked it allllll in as much as we could.....including the rain that sprinkled upon us most of the weekend.

I left the experience feeling simultaneously overwhelmed and inspired – Ideas bursting at the seams of my brain, anxiously awaiting to be implemented!  This experience was just what my soul needed in order continue growing as a photographer and to challenge and stretch my creativity.  I'm pretty sure Field Trip was a huge success.  Until next year, #yeahfieldtrip!

I went to the mountains!  Yay!  There I stayed in a home that was pure 1970s. It was awesome.  I also did some outdoorsy stuff......ya know, tromped around in the snow, visited a yurt, almost got lost looking for Riley, took a nap on some rocks....
