Teaching Photography with National Geographic Student Expeditions - Ireland

Every summer I teach high school students photography with National Geographic Student Expeditions. This summer I taught in Ireland with 28 students, two fellow teachers, and a National Geographic expert by the name of Melissa Farlow.

More images from teaching photography in the Czech Republic with National Geographic Student Expeditions this summer. This time from the quaintest town in southern Bohemia called Cesky Krumlov.

A Summer Adventure Leading with National Geographic Student Expeditions - Prague, Part I

In June and July I had the opportunity to lead a photo workshop for National Geographic Student Expeditions in Prague.  Four leaders, one Czech expert, and one National Geographic expert extraordinaire hit the streets of Prague with the challenge to inspire and encourage thirty-five students to take their photography to the next level.  It was fantastic to see the students stretch their comfort zones through a mix of photo talks, critiques, in-field assignments and newly gained Czech language skills. Our Nat Geo Expert, Matthieu Paley joined us for the entirety of the workshop and provided a mix of both witty humor, photographic genius, and unstoppable acro-yoga skills.  As I said goodbye to the last student at JFK at the end of the trip, I had to stop and pinch myself to make sure what just happened was real.  Sometimes I feel like I'm living a dream.  I love this job with all my heart.

Here's a sampling of random images from Prague...more to come from the beautiful area of Southern Bohemia - specifically the towns of Zdikov and Cesky Krumlov.

Olomouc, Czech Republic!

Dobrý den from the Czech Republic!  I'm currently in the beautiful, historic city of Prague where I am leading a National Geographic Student Expeditions Photo Workshop for two weeks.  Tomorrow, the students arrive from all over the US for the intensely packed trip, complete with an excursion to Southern Bohemia.  National Geographic photographer Mattieu Paley is with us for the two weeks as the Nat Geo Expert who will work closely with the students as we are out and about shooting.

I came over a bit early to explore the much smaller, non-touristy city of Olomouc (pronounced Olomoats)...about two hours from the Polish border.  It was a cute, quaint little town with windy, cobblestone streets and friendly faces around every corner.  Hope you'll enjoy just a small handful of images from there!  More to come...
